집에서 100% 유기농 채소를 재배하는 시대도 현실이 됐다. 국내 1위 농기계 기업 대동은 'AI 플랜트 박스'(재배기)를 선보였다. 냉장고처럼 생긴 재배기에 씨앗 캡슐만 넣으면 사람이 할 일은 끝난다. AI가 내장된 카메라가 품종을 인식하고 최적의 온도·습도·조도·배양액 등 재배 환경을 제어한다.

 

AI는 채소의 생육 상태를 분석해 가장 영양소가 풍부하고 맛있게 익은 시점까지 예측한다. 가령 바질 캡슐을 넣어뒀다면 애플리케이션을 통해 "이틀 후에 바질이 최대 중량이 되니 그때 드세요"라고 알려주는 식이다. 사용자는 때에 맞춰 냉장고에서 계란을 꺼내듯 바질을 꺼내 식탁에 올리면 된다.

 

생육할 수 있는 품종은 50가지, 최대 4인 가족이 한 달간 먹을 수 있는 채소를 기를 수 있다. 대동은 삼성전자와 협업해 AI 플랜트 박스에 사물인터넷(IoT) 플랫폼 '스마트싱스'를 적용할 예정이다. 대동 관계자는 "77년 농업 노하우를 학습한 AI 카메라가 생육 상태와 수확량을 분석해 최적의 품질을 내는 것이 차별점"이라고 했다.

AI analyzes the growth status of vegetables and predicts when they are most nutrient-rich and deliciously ripe. For example, if you put in a basil capsule, you will be informed through an application that the basil will reach its maximum weight in two days, so eat it then. Users can take out the basil as if they are taking out eggs from the refrigerator and put it on the table.

There are 50 varieties that can grow, and up to four family members can grow vegetables for a month. Daedong plans to apply the Internet of Things (IoT) platform "SmartThings" to the AI plant box in collaboration with Samsung Electronics. "The difference is that AI cameras that learned agricultural know-how in 1977 provide optimal quality by analyzing growth conditions and yield," said an official from Daedong.
