횡 슬라이더

팔 각도가 낮은 투수가 슬라이더를 던질 경우 스핀이 지면과 거의 수평에 가까운 방향으로 걸린다. 때문에 종(縱)아래로의 변화가 적고 횡(橫)옆으로의 변화가 크게 걸려 같은 손 타자의 바깥쪽으로 달아나는 궤적으로서 스윙을 유도하거나 몸쪽으로 파고들어와 스트라이크를 잡아내는 횡 슬라이더가 된다. 스리쿼터 스로, 사이드암 스로 투수들이 주로 구사하며, 팔 각도가 더 낮은 언더핸드 스로 투수들이 던지면 위쪽으로도 스핀이 걸려 타자 입장에서 솟아오르는 착각을 주는 '업슛 슬라이더'도 만들어진다.

 

 

When a pitcher with a low arm angle throws a slider, the spin is almost horizontal to the ground. Therefore, there is little change to the bottom and a big change to the side, making it a horizontal slider that induces a swing or penetrates into the body to catch a strike as a trajectory that runs away to the outside of the same-handed batter. It is mainly used by three-quarter throwers and side-arm throwers, and when underhand throwers with lower arm angles throw a spin upward, creating an "upshoot slider" that gives the illusion of rising up from the batter's point of view.
